Darwin Day

In December, a resolution was introduced in the Senate to designate Feb 12, 2016 as Darwin’s Day. It is Senate Resolution 337 and House Resolution 548. They recognize “Charles Darwin as a worthy symbol on which to celebrate the achievements of reason, science, and the advancement of human knowledge.” It also make it a point to state “the teaching of creationism in some public schools compromises the scientific and academic integrity of the United States education systems”.

AIG’s Ark Project Wins Court Battle

In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Answers in Genesis has won the discrimination suit over Kentucky’s denial of sales tax rebate for ‘Ark Encounter’. It is a complicated case, but essentially when AIG started building the Ark Project as an amusement park, it applied for a tax rebate under the Tourism Development Act. Afterwords, many groups complained this broke state / church separation boundaries and the rebate was withdrawn. Now, a court judge has ruled that AIG does deserve to have it. This decision apparently focused only on the rules of the Tourism Development Act while avoiding the many tangents the case has taken including the hiring practices of AIG.
