Tide Pools and Shorelines

Tide pools are small pockets of salt water which exist in rocky areas when the tide goes out. This is a harsh environment. The temperature can fluctuate quite a bit through the day as heating from the sun takes place. It can also become much more salty than the ocean because of evaporation. Only to again be consumed by the ocean or sea water when the tide comes in again.
