Baraminology Quest Updates

It has been a good month for Todd Elder’s website Baraminology Quest – Exploring Created Kinds in Scripture, Science, and Society. Many various projects that were begun on website sub-domains have all been migrated onto the main site. This includes photography, journal entries, book samples, thesis work, and more.

Creation Doctrine at Christian Schools

Todd Wood, who has a lot of personal experience with this topic, has written some suggestions and guidelines on how to handle situations that occur when schools and universities have teachers with differing viewpoints on origins. At least in the United States, this does continue to be an issue.

Creation Orchard Started

Another project at Baraminology Quest is the beginning of the Creation Orchard. This is a detailed listing of the Kinds of plants and animals that exist today. It begins with the Animal Orchard with reptiles, birds, and some mammals so far. Other animals and plants will follow.

Mark Armitage Wins Court Case

Mark Armitage, a microscopist and discoverer of the now famed soft tissue on a triceratops horn, was fired from California State University after his published paper was found to support Creationism. He has won a case involving discrimination and wrongful termination and has gotten back what is basically his future retirement funds. Detailed information can be found at The College Fix post. You can also support Mark’s current independent work at GoFundMe.

Creation Conversations Refresh

Creation Conversations is a creationist forum and chat room with other features. It is not specifically focused on Baraminology, but the topic does come up along with many others. It used to be quite active, then went through a long, dry period of time. A few months ago, it came under new management, the Creation Network, and it is now being “refreshed”. Items include a monthly ‘Ask the Expert’ and some type of live Question and Answer.

Free Science Gear for Christian Schools

The Core Academy of Science is offering up to $500.00 worth of science equipment to 6 schools. To be eligible for this program, schools must be private, nonprofit, Christian high schools – applications can be found at Core Academy of Science. Applications are due by November 7, 2016.

Upcoming Seminars and Conferences

The major conferences and seminars are basically done for the year. I will begin a new list for 2017 next month … that might also include an updated Baraminology Resource Guide for 2017 as well.
